The metalworker Erich Deibel was close to the SPD before 1933. Four weeks after German and allied troops invaded the Soviet Union. he chalked the slogan “Workers - help Russia – strike - stand up for the KPD” on a wall on the night of July 21, 1941. Arrested the next day, he was sentenced to death by the “People‘s Court” on June 6, 1942, and beheaded in Plötzensee prison on August 15, 1942. As in many other cases, posters announcing his execution were put up around Berlin.
