Utilization of Corpses
Almost all of the bodies of prisoners murdered in Plötzensee were passed on to Berlin University's anatomical institute for cadaver dissection. They were then cremated in Wilmersdorf crematorium, and the ashes were buried anonymously. In this document, the director of the anatomical institute, Professor Hermann Stieve, informs the recipient on March 2, 1938, that he will arrange for the collection of the corpse of Ewald Funke, a Communist functionary to be beheaded two days later in Plötzensee prison.
