Zdeněk Hajek
The metalworker Zdeněk Hajek worked in Berlin and was arrested in January 1943 for the theft of several rabbits and geese. On July 21, 1943, a few days before his 24th birthday, Hajek was sentenced to death for this offense by the Berlin V Special Court. With no real chance of success and despite his hands being shackled, he tried to escape prison during the night of July 25, 1943. His attempt failed. Zdeněk Hajek was hanged in Plötzensee prison on September 7, 1943.
